Looking at a chart displaying the path followed by main interest rates in several economies, we realize how much the world in which we live has changed in 30 years
There was a time in which we would have read a NY Times title that would have looked like: “Fed close to cut funds rate from 15% to 13%”, and this sounds so odd compared to the 0% level of today, doesn’t it ?
It’s not only Japan, everyone is following this path of low interest rates, and, to be honest, this chart makes us doubt that there will ever be an inversion in the trend.
